From the Principal

Please visit the Lugoff-Elgin Middle School Facebook page for frequent posts about what's going on at Lugoff-Elgin Middle School.

Welcome to the school where understanding hearts and positive attitudes thrive.  Every day, students demonstrate understanding hearts as they help each other on projects and support each other through difficult times.  Teachers exemplify understanding hearts by showing compassion and concern for every student by offering after school tutoring sessions.  Student athletes display positive attitudes as they work hard on the field and on the court to represent Lugoff-Elgin Middle School with pride.  Teachers express positive attitudes as they work with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary units and incorporate a variety of instructional strategies into their lessons.  Community members and parents represent understanding hearts and positive attitudes by attending school sponsored activities and athletic events. Every stakeholder is an important member of the learning community at LEMS. Thank you for the many displays of understanding hearts and positive attitudes that make LEMS a great school.

Summer Reading and the Reading is FREE

Thanks to the generosity of our PTO and a Sparkleberry Fair grant  we are able to offer 1 FREE summer reading book to all students in the 6th and 7th grade at LEMS and to our rising 6th grade students from our feeder schools Wateree and Lugoff Elementary.

All students are REQUIRED to read one of the books for Summer Reading.  Upon returning to school we will have a Summer Reading Celebration.  Students will do extension activities  with other students and a teacher who have read the same book.

The summer reading order form has been closed.  If you did not have the opportunity to order we will have some extras available after the orders are filled.  You will need to contact Mrs. Lemieux anne.lemieux@kcsdschools.net or 438-3591 X6039 after May 23rd.
